Yes, I am an only child. I never wanted any brothers or sisters because I was quite spoilt and had my parents full, undivided attention. People always used to say to me dont you wish you had brothers or sisters? and I could never understand why. I had a happy, fulfilling childhood and never felt lonely I always had a lot of friends who used to come round to play though, so thats probably why I had a couple of friends who were only children as well, and I noticed that only children seem to be a lot more mature for their age than people with brothers and sisters. People always tell me I have an old head on young shoulders, and I think thats a result of being an only child. I was mainly surrounded by adults, and because of this I get on better with people older than myself. I read somewhere that only children are a lot more resourceful and independent thinkers than children who have siblings, but their social skills arent as developed as kids who have brothers and sisters. The only trouble with being an only child is that as you get older you realize that if God forbid anything happened to your parents, you wouldnt have much of a support network, youd be on your own and would have to rely heavily on friends. But, yeah, I say its better to be an only child!

Anarkali was a dancer at the court of Emperor Akbar. The emperors eldest son and heir apparent, Salim, fell in love with her. Akbar did not approve of the relation as the dancer was of lowly birth and hence considered not fit to be the queen of the wouldbe emperor of Hindustan. But the lovers did not pay heed to the emperors disapproval. At last, Anarkali was sentenced to death she was bricked alive in a wall. This basic storyline is variously told with minor variations in detail. This garden is mentioned by Dara Shikoh, the grandson of Jahangir, in his work Sakinat alAuliya, as one of the places where the Saint Hazrat Mian Mir used to sit. Dara also mentions the existence of a tomb in the garden but he does not give it any name.brbrMuhammad Baqir believes that the socalled tomb of Anarkali actually belongs to the lady named or entitled Sahibi Jamal, another wife of Salim and the mother of the Princes second son Sultan Parvez, and a daughter of the noble Zain Khan Koka. Two authors that have never let me down are Thomas Hardy and John Steinbeck.brbrMy favorite Hardy book is The Mayor of Casterbridge which begins with one of the most shocking chapters ever to start a book... and it just gets more intense. The lead character commits an atrocity, becomes the mayor of Casterbridge years later, and then his past comes back to haunt him... big time.brbrEast of Eden by Steinbeck is monumental, sprawling, and just plain big. I read it once every years. It concerns the histories of the Trask and Hamilton families, and its the most autobiograpical of Steinbecks works. The James Dean movie just takes into account the last pages of the novel.
